This morning, I learned Italy, the home of pizza, Dante and mandolino is a Rogue Nation. Yes, they are in good company, with Cuba, Iran, the 2 Koreas, and Sudan.
Who said that? Me, that’s who.
I went to Yahoo! Sport to read about the middleweight fight between Dan Henderson and Anderson Silva. For 44 bucks you can see it live on your browser. But a yellow warns me:
“We apologize, but UFC PPV on Yahoo! Sports is not available to users in Italy, South Korea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan”
Well, everybody knows Cuba is a rogue nation. They don’t want McDonals and WalMart!
It also well known the US don’t like Iran and North Korea, because (they say) they want to play with atoms. Sudan is somehow connected with Osama Bin Laden.

I assume, actually I hope, this was just a way to say “This program is not available in area”, like other network do. After all, we do have thousands of McDonald’s!

Well, I am at work, or at least… I am supposed to be working. In these days I am helping Smartphone & PocketPC Magazine (btw, everybody owning mobile device got to check it out!) moving their site content to a Drupal cms. We have a test site which is down every other day. Today is one of the down day, so here I am.
Talking about hosting company, I want to mention that recently I moved thecarrers.com to NearlyFreeSpeech.NET, and I am very satisfied with the service so far. I pay as I go, so if nobody surf this site, I pay nothing!
But considering the average traffic I get, I should pay about the same amount I was paying with Aruba.it, but I get a much better service. First, the site loads much faster. Considering I am in Italy, and the site is hosted somewhere in the US, I don’t notice any delay. On the other hand, when I was in the US, and site was hosted in Italy, it was much slower. Second, I have SSH access, something that a lot of hosts in Europe don’t provide. And last but not least, I can finally access the database with my favorite database tools, SQLyog. I find it much more flexible and faster than the web based phpMyAdmin.
So, it was great to stay with Aruba. I had a reliable service and it was very cheap. The “bad” company* which is down every other day, it costs my company about twice as much. But NearlyFreeSpeech.NET is completely another story…

* I don’t mention their name. If  you don’t like something, there is no need to put your attention on it.

I have enabled Akismet a couple of weeks ago. But, since then, nobody has spammed this blog with any comment linking to viagra, pornos, replica watches, etc.
I am a bit disappointed, as I’d like to see Akismet in action.
In the past, I had to install a CAPTCHA plugin as the blog was getting a huge amount of crap. At some point, I even decided to turn off comments for post.

– updated: Got 10 comments as of March 10. They were all spam and Akismet caught all of them but one. Great, 90% efficency so far!

For those of you who follow this blog (ok, I know there are not that many…), you will notice we no longer maintain an Italian version of the site. It was too much of a hassle to keep Wordpress, Gengo, and other plugins up-to-date.

So… better to improve our english!

Talking with my mom about about a job offer, she said “Money don’t have smell and taste.”
I agree, it doesn’t matter where the bucks come from… Well, as long as they are earned honestly.
